Ullens Center lines up treats for 2016
Works of American painter Robert Rauschenberg and Chinese contemporary artist Zeng Fanzhi's solo exhibition are the highlights of the 2016 calendar of the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art. The nonprofit Beijing-based art institution, founded by the Belgian collector couple Guy and Myriam Ullens, has just released its exhibition plans for 2016. Its great hall will see a display of Rauschenberg's 450-meter long composition, The 1/4 Mile, which he began in 1981 and continued in 1998. The exhibition will run from June to August. Following it will be Zeng's solo exhibition, believed to be his largest in scale and most comprehensive in China. It attempts to showcase the various aspects that make up Zeng's rich artistic output. Other shows include solo exhibitions by Wang Yin, Hao Liang and Nadim Abbas. Accommodating Reform is interesting show which will attempt to trace the country's development of international hotel architecture from 1978 to 1990. UCCA received 800,000 visitors in 2015 who not only came for the exhibitions but also its art education activities, film screening and seminars. Its annual year-end gala and benefit auction in November raised 10.86 million yuan ($1.67 million). |
