Daimler has been active in Northeast Asia since the early 20th century, and was the first company to establish an international automotive joint venture in the Chinese mainland -- Beijing Jeep Corporation in 1983.

Today, all its business units are represented in Northeast Asia through Daimler Northeast Asia Ltd. established in 2001. Based in Beijing, Daimler Northeast Asia Ltd. is responsible for the operations of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Auto Finance and Daimler Parts in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Republic of Korea. It imports vehicles in the region under the Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and Smart brands, and builds Mercedes-Benz sedans and vans in China.
